Why This Gen 5 Glock Wins
Having run this pistol through 500+ rounds at our Spring TX test range, the Gen 5 improvements make a measurable difference:
- Marksman Barrel delivers 1.5″ groups at 25 yards (versus 2.5″ on Gen 4)
- Ambidextrous slide stop works flawlessly for left-handed shooters
- No finger grooves means better grip customization
- Flared magwell speeds reloads by 0.3 seconds average
Key Features
- Flat Dark Earth Finish: nDLC coating resists holster wear better than Cerakote
- Glock Marksman Barrel: Cold hammer-forged with polygonal rifling
- 15-Round Magazines: Three included (most competitors ship two)
- Modular Backstraps: Medium and large included for hand fit
- Improved Trigger: 25% reduced take-up versus Gen 4

Pros & Cons
✅ What Works:
- Reliability: 0 failures in 500-round test (115gr to 147gr)
- Ergonomics: No finger grooves fit large and small hands better
- Value: Three mags at this price point is rare
- Finish: FDE holds up to daily carry abuse
- Aftermarket: Every gun shop stocks Glock 19 parts
❌ What Doesn’t:
- Sights: Polymer sights are serviceable but not premium (upgrade to metal sights)
- Grip Texture: Could be more aggressive for sweaty hands (consider Talon Grips)
Who Should Buy This
Buy it if:

- Need optics-ready out of the box (MOS models available)
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this include night sights?
No, this model ships with standard polymer sights. We recommend Trijicon HD or Ameriglo for low-light use.
Are Gen 5 magazines compatible with older Glocks?
Gen 5 mags work in Gen 1-4 frames with a $15 magazine catch replacement.
What’s the difference between FDE and Coyote finishes?
FDE (Flat Dark Earth) is slightly darker and more uniform than Coyote’s tan variation. Both use the same durable nDLC coating.
Where can I buy Glock 19 Gen 5 in Europe online?
Glock Switch Shop stocks this model with same-day shipping
Does the finish wear off quickly?
In our abrasion tests, the nDLC finish showed minimal wear after 1,000+ holster draws – better than Cerakote or bluing.
Is the trigger better than Gen 4?
Yes – 25% less take-up and crisper wall. For competition use, we suggest a $80 aftermarket trigger.
What’s included in the box?
Pistol, three 15-round magazines, cable lock, backstraps (M/L), loader, and documentation.

The Glock 19 Gen 5 FDE 9mm Handgun arrived in excellent condition, and the packaging information was accurate. The reversible magazine catch is a nice touch for usability. While the trigger pull of 26 N is standard, it feels slightly heavier than some competitors in the same category. Overall, it is a good value for the specifications provided.
